Vienna Airport is the busiest airport in Austria
and handles approximately 20 million passengers
each year. The airport is located at the town
of Schwechat about 10 miles to the south-east
of Vienna city centre and is often referred
to as Vienna Schwechat Airport. Due to steadily
increasing air traffic, Vienna Airport has
been undergoing a program of expansion over
the last few years with the construction of
new facilities including a new terminal, a
new control tower and a third runway. Vienna
Airport is especially busy during the winter
months with visitors flying in from across
Europe and the rest of the World to take advantage
of Austria's excellent winter sports facilities.
During the rest of the year, the airport serves
Austria's capital city Vienna which attracts
tourists visiting the capital's historic architecture
and sites of cultural interest as well as
commercial travellers.
To cater for the winter sports men and women
arriving at the Airport and destined for the
nearby ski resorts such as Lilienfeld, Rußbach
and Semmering, Hertz Vienna Airport provide
Ski Equipped vehicles. The Hertz Ski Equipped
option includes ski racks for safe and convenient
transport of sports equipment and snow chains
or tyres are available upon request. For ski
parties arriving at the airport, Hertz also
