Klagenfurt Airport is on the north-western
outskirts of the Austrian city of Klagenfurt
am Worthersee in the south-eastern part of
the country. It is a small airport with traffic
of under half a million passengers each year
and has one air terminal. Facilities at Klagenfurt
Airport (also known as Alpe Adria Klagenfurt
Airport) include a cafe-bar and restaurant,
duty-free shopping, an information centre,
disabled facilities and a baby changing facility.
The city of Klagenfurt has a number of attractions
for the tourist including the Roman ruins
at Magdalensberg Archaeological Park, the
mediaeval castle of Burg Hochosterwitz and
the 16th century Lindworm monument. The Gerlitzen
Mountain ski resort is about an hour from
Klagenfurt and in the summer offers hiking
and excellent views of the surrounding Carinthian
region.
