Located in the mountainous Tyrol region in
the west of Austria, Innsbruck Airport is
ideally located for winter tourists visiting
the ski resorts in the area such as Kitzbühel,
Ischgl and St.
Anton. As a result, the winter months are
the busiest period for Innsbruck Airport and
each year the airport handles approximately
1 million passengers. The airport is located
just over 2 miles to the west of Innsbruck
and the adjacent A12 autobahn provides quick
access to the many quality winter ski resorts
in the area. In 2007, EasyJet opened up routes
to Innsbruck Airport from the United Kingdom
with flights from London-Gatwick, Bristol
and Liverpool. Other carriers providing flights
to Innsbruck from the UK include British Airways,
Austrian Airlines, Monarch, Thomas Cook Airlines
and Thomson Airways.
